RECEPTION OFFICE
On the eastern side in front of the main Parliament House is
the new Reception Office, blending harmoniously with the sur-
roundings of the Parliament House complex. This circular
structure, 22.26 metres in diameter, combines the values of the old
and new forms of architecture; the outer portion of the building is
finished in red sandstone, while the interior with wooden lining all
over radiates a feeling of warmth and welcome, A split-level sys-
tem provides for a cafeteria on a raised level and a lounge below
for Members of Parliament to receive visitors.
The building built at a cost of Rs. 15 lakhs (Rs. 1.5 million)
was inaugurated by the then Speaker Dr. G. S. Dhillon on March
25, 1975.
